St Tropez Property

This tiny former fishing village first gained worldwide renown in the 1950s when it was “discovered” by the “artistes du jour” such as Picasso & Matisse. When Brigitte Bardot arrived on the St. Tropez scene in the 6O's the myth was set in stone and since then it has remained top of the “must-have” list for the world’s celebrities and jet-set. 

 It is without doubt one of the chicest areas to own a villa in the South of France; a sleepy fishing village in the winter, it is transformed into a party town during the summer months when the  hedonistic giltterati descend upon its tiny cobbled streets for a summer of fun.  The night life here is legendary and always a hot topic in the world’s gossip columns with  clubs such as the Caves du Roy, VIP Room and Papagayo being the most glamorous hotspots next to the yacht parties and fabulous house parties which are populated by the jet set throughout the summer months. Helicopters can often be seen bringing guests to private parties in the luxurious villas or onto the yachts surrounding the bay.The port with its row of fashionable cafes (the most famous one being the Senequier) opposite the mega yachts is the perfect spot for people watching or star spotting. Behind the cafes is a maze of tiny streets - a shopper’s paradise.

Only a five minutes drive away from the bustling village is Pampelonne with its  beautiful sandy beaches & turquoise sea unparalleled in the South of France. They also are host to some of the best private beach clubs in the world  such as club 55, Nikki beach and La Voile Rouge. For this reason the area of Pampelonne can boast some of the best properties in the area, most within walking distance to the beach & with wonderful sea views, what more could you ask for? To the east of the Pampelonne beach lies a lovely private domain called the domain Tahiti which has private access to the sea and is within walking distance to the private beach clubs. It resides on a small hill and nearly all of the villas here  enjoy wonderful sea views. To buy a property here you are looking at a minimum of 3 000 000€. 

Just a five minute drive from St Tropez lies another private domain that has a reputation as being one of the most exclusive in the South of France. This domain is called ‘Les Parcs de St Tropez’  a very large area covering several hectares where you will find some of the most spectacular properties in the world. The properties in this domain are all unique and vary in style from Chateaux to Belle Epoque and contemporary.  Prices in this domain start around 5 000 000€ and can go up to 250 000 000€. 

Needless to say any property bought in one of these three areas yields very good revenue from rental, if this is something that you could be interested in. St Tropez’s busy season only lasts for around 3 months from July until the end of September so if partying is not your style then you only need to come outside of these months to see the sleepy fishing village restored to its former glory.

Beyond the jet set and the paparazzi, St. Tropez and its surrounding villages continue to offer all the charm and beauty of Provence and the Côte d’Azur. Early in the morning at the Place aux Herbes is a typical fruit, vegetable and flower market with the local fishermen selling their morning’s catch. A typical Provengal market is held every Tuesday and Saturday morning in the famous Place des Lices. In the winter time, “St. Trop” once again becomes its true self - a provencal village with its narrow winding streets luminous with warm and seductive colours.  

To the  East &  West of St Tropez lie some beautiful & peaceful areas which are less in the public view and typify more of old-style France. Areas & towns such as Cogolin, Cavalaire-Sur-Mer, Saint Maxime, Saint Raphael & Gassin  are all incredibly beautiful and properties in this area are considerably less expensive. A budget of 2 000 000€ should get you a nice 4 bedroom property with a view and swimming pool. 

 For visitors using private aviation then St Tropez has its own private airport called La Mole St Tropez airport which is located only 20km outside St Tropez.
